Benedict Mitchell is a designer based in Western Sydney in Australia.

hat 1: design hat

Benedict has been working as a commercial designer since 2017 in the fields of furniture, experience, and interaction design.

He has designed prototype and production pieces for the Australian furniture market, specialising in design for local manufacturing and Australian materials.

hat 2: art hat

Benedict’s art practice is primarily concerned with the representation of everyday objects and behaviours in the Australian context, working in paper mache, gouache, and acrylic paint.

He draws cartoons and makes representative sculptural wall-hangings.

His sculptural pieces are designed to be experienced in the home and in commercial spaces.

Benedict is an advocate for arts in Western Sydney, improving access for people to create and experience art.

Benedict wishes he still had his 1999 model mazda 323 which “ran like a champ” and one day hopes for his older brother to let him have a turn on the playstation.

education

Benedict graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor of Integrated Product Design (major in Interaction Design) from the University of Technology, Sydney.
